It requires some additional years of schooling & training, but the Doctor of Juridical Science program is the best route to take in case you need to make use of your law degree to teach at the university level, or to become a legal scholar. Dissertations are due at the date specified when registering for the doctorate program. Before the program ends, or soon thereafter, candidates are expected to make a presentation on the progress of their dissertations. In some instances, waivers may be extended on demonstration that a candidate made an active & faithful try to complete dissertation before due date. Usually, the dissertation committee will notify the student of any deficiencies in the submitted dissertation for the student to correct & resubmit.
